The Unity Linux project is pleased to announce the final 2010 release. Check the Downloads page to get the 32 bit and 64 bit LiveCDs.
The repositories now contain many full fledged up to date Desktop Environments which can be installed with the use of the “task” meta-packages. Recent additions include:

About Unity Linux:
Mandriva-based Unity Linux utilizes the MkLiveCD project, which allows developers to create their own distribution on top of a Unity Linux core (or “trunk”). Unity Linux thus strives to provide a solid, well maintained foundation that developers can use as a starting point to build their own “remastered” distributions, or as we like to call them, “branches.” Currently, Unity Linux offers both 32-bit and 64-bit LiveCDs. Over 8,500 packages are available after installation. In an effort to give distribution developers maximum flexibility, the core is kept small and usable, but not too basic. Unity Linux provides developers with the bare minimum– just enough to make use of remaster tools, the smart package manager, a 2.6.33.5 kernel, and rpm5. To facilitate easy access to packages, Unity Linux utilizes an SVN repository for packages and internal projects. All the necessary tools as well as a basic tutorial for building packages are already provided. An automatic build system to work with the SVN repository is in progress along with many other tools to make Unity the most functional project to start a personal or professional branch.
Hey congratulations!!!!
Just cuestion , Iso Unity 32 2010.1 date 05/07/2010 , is correct ?.

Which version do I download for the GNOME desktop?
At the moment there isn't a branch for Gnome. But you can download the core and install either task-gnome or task-gnome-minimal.
You don’t seem to understand the premise behind this, do you? You download the base install, and add what you want. You add Gnome/etc yourself.
i get the idea. but i can remaster it again afte r add my own stuff right?and is the tools to do it included?

The names of the downloads are too confusing.
I was interested in a certain flavor of UL but will not take the risk of downloading a large file not knowing its contents. http://kambing.ui.ac.id/unitylinux/isos/
Sorry, the previous version I tested was great, but I stopped at the download page today
anon,
in the release announcement, it explains what EACH iso is and what it contains. That would clear up confusion for you.

Two hours ago I posted a short message, congratulating the developers and asking a question regarding the possibility to boot the Openbox version of UL entirely into RAM. But strangely, my posting has disappeared without a trace a short while later. I wonder what might be the reason for this deletion? I also wonder if those responsible for these pages have any idea how harmful such an overzealous, overbearing and censorious attitude may have for a distro's reputation in the long run?
why not re-post it?
It is HIGHLY unlikely that your post was censored or removed. This is not the way Unity does things. It is more likely just an error somewhere in posting. The only time posts are removed are when they are spam or highly offensive. I invite you to repost or if you would like a quicker answer join us on #unitylinux at freenode.
Bravo!
finally I got the final release of Unity Linux. Thank you for all programmers who develop Unity. No KDE needed. Openbox is enough for me.
I've got the latest Unity installed (a really elegant desktop!), but when I searched Smart pkg mgr to find a writer program (OpenOffice.org, Koffice, or Abiword), I found nothing. What am I doing wrong? TIA for a response.
You need to update channels first (ie reload the package information). Hit the left most toolbar icon in Smart. Then search again.
Thank you, richjack! That did it! I should have thought of that myself – all I saw at first was the default installs.

Well done, congratulations Unity-linux team on the 2010 final release, hope many other users will come to realise what a great base Unity is, and look forward to continuing Unity for my HUMANity, and HUminity, E17 with ecomorph remasters
Best wishes,

My many congratulations to everyone at Unity for this release. It’s all looking very good. Feeling really proud of the whole team. Very well done, guys, very well done.
Alas, I am stuck in my work at the moment; also still without a proper Internet connection at home. I am dying to get back to development.
You know you will be always welcome when you are ready. So take your time and take care of your real life stuff first
could you add drivers for nettop computers? Mine uses the Realtek 8187SE driver…and I love the idea of a really small configurable distro that you guys are developing…
We thought we had included most of the stuff needed but if you see some missing stuff, just let us know and we'll add it on.
What is the hardware requirements here? Can this boot old computers as well? What about 128 ram? Any hope for that?
Atle
We have a dedicated branch for older computers if you cannot use Unity. It's Tinyme (http://tinymelinux.com/doku.php). I believe Kdulcimer is now working to getting Tinyme-2010 ready for release.

Plymouth, the boot graphics application that refuses to let the user have text boot EVEN WHEN THEY CONFIGURE BOOT TO BE TEXT.
makes any distro using it useless for those who like to have the boot sequence tell them something is wrong by displaying the boot messages, rather than have the system lie to them by concealing information behind some graphics.

I can not find even the minimum requirements that Linux Unity calls for installation! I would like to help me in that part!, I have a laptop is very old little boy, I wish to try this distro on it! so you can see is very pleasing to the eye! and I'm interested!, if they find ahy leave my email to send to me. thank you very
